About Me

Travis Hendrix is the State Representative for District 55. He was born and raised in Ensley's Tuxedo Court Public Housing Community, now redeveloped as Tuxedo Terrace and affectionately known as "the Brickyard." Growing up in this area exposed him to the challenges faced by residents, but it also instilled in him the values of service, sacrifice, and prayer, thanks to his grandmother's strong influence.

Travis attended Ensley High School and then completed a GED program, attended Miles College, earned a bachelor's degree and continued his education with a master's degree from Oakland City University.

Travis is a devoted husband to his wife, Crystal and a father, an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a police officer with Birmingham Police Department. Travis has served as a school resource officer and on a public housing task force, emphasizing his commitment to public safety as a legislator.

In October 2023, Travis Hendrix was elected to represent District 55, a role he embraces with determination to bring meaningful change. Known for exceeding expectations and beating the odds, he is committed to tirelessly working toward the shared vision of progress and prosperity for his community.
